This is EM in it's dormant state and is how it is sold.

It is available in 1 & 10 litre containers.

EM-1 will keep for up to 12 months if unopened and kept in a cool dark place.
When opened, it should be used within 3 months.

It is totally harmless, even if consumed.


Unless environmental conditions are ideal (especially temperature +25C), EM-1 used on it's own will take a long time to become effective and besides, this is not the most economic way of applying it. The best way to use EM-1 is to 'activate' it - the resultant product is called EM-A (Activated-EM), which can than then be further diluted with water.

Making EM-A is done by mixing EM-1 with molasses (which must be sugar cane and not sugar beet molasses) and water and allowing them to ferment in a sealed vessel for 7 days at @ +25 centigrade.

1 litre of EM-1 will produce 20 litres of EM-A, which can then be further diluted 1:100 with water i.e. 200 litres of usable product!

EM fermenters are availed in a variety of sizes: 30, 60, 120, 220 and 1000 litre sizes.
